Hotel Goethe

The price is good for Munich, and the room is spacious. The neighborhood felt bad to us, with too many weird people, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone sensitive to that. The hotel itself seems to have had only minimal renovation. We booked for four, though it was just me and my husband. Note that the two bedrooms aren’t separated by a door, so two couples wouldn’t have privacy. There’s a mini kitchen but no cookware or dishes at all, not even a frying pan, plates, or forks, and no microwave. The stove made me wonder how anyone is meant to cook. For tea and coffee there are only paper or plastic cups. There’s no table or chairs for eating in the room, just some outside on the ground floor. There’s a coffee table and chairs near the room, but those are only for smokers. In the second bedroom the bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t close. The wardrobes are large but have no hangers. No rubbish bin in the room either, only a tiny one in the bathroom. The blankets are small, really only comfortable if you’re a child. There’s an air conditioner but no remote to turn it on, and no ventilation, just windows for fresh air. There were some good points: the hotel is very close to the central railway station, and the old town is a 10-15 minute walk. We had tea and coffee in the room, large comfortable beds, two bottles of water in the fridge, soap and shower gel, and nice towels. Central heating worked even in early September, so we could dry our washed clothes. Our room faced the yard, so there was no street noise, and the card key was convenient.

A solid stay with everything needed for a short visit. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff kind.

The location is very good, and the staff were attentive and genuinely helpful. This was one of the best accommodation experiences I’ve had. If I’m passing through Münich again, I’d like to stay here.

A nice coffee shop is just nearby, and the old town is an easy walk away. The hotel is also close to transport. We found the rooms comfortable.
