Hotel München Palace

The room service breakfast arrived on time and was cooked just how we liked it. We had a busy schedule in Munich, so we didn’t get to try the breakfast buffet. Check-in and checkout were smooth, the room was clean, and the service was above par. We also appreciated the welcome fruit basket and chocolates, especially the heavenly strawberries, along with the daily mini-bar refill. It had a good selection of drinks and a special beer from Stuttgart for beer aficionados. The hotel is in a nice, quiet area, a peaceful refuge from the city center bustle. It’s still top of mind if we visit Munich again. 😊

The courtyard was lovely, with great food, and the hotel had very pretty aesthetics. We upgraded our room because the main bedrooms and bathrooms were very small. One room had a corner shower that you had to step up into, and there wasn’t much space.

I tried contacting the hotel directly twice to resolve this privately, but got no response. We chose Hotel Muenchen for its 5-star status and Michelin recommendation, and the experience fell well short. At checkout, after two nights of disrupted sleep, the only service recovery offered was removing a few cappuccino charges. Management still hasn’t responded to my two attempts to reach them. We couldn’t rest properly because the climate control was broken and flashing a “wrench” icon. After a miserable first night, we slept with the windows open on the second to cool the room, but street noise kept us awake. When we told staff on the third night, they said there was “nothing they could do.” The bell staff were also incredibly rude one day. They tried to “shoo” us away from our Uber, insisting it was for other guests, even though we had called a taxi through the Uber app. They dismissed us until the driver intervened, and nobody apologized for the embarrassing interaction. For a luxury hotel of this caliber, the lack of accountability and basic communication is unacceptable. I’d look elsewhere if you expect 5-star service.

We went to the Sunday brunch and it was amazing. Even though it was busy and I made a last-minute reservation, they made sure we got the table I wanted. The people working there were great, really helpful, and made sure we had a good stay.
