Motel One München-Messe

The evening lounge has a wide choice of gins from around the world, along with other drinks. I'd also recommend booking breakfast. The hotel had a nice atmosphere, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and my room was spacious enough and had the essentials.

For a short business stay, the location is the main draw, with Riem Arcaden and the Munich exhibition center nearby and public transport easy to reach. The hotel is small and seems to have very few staff. Rooms are compact and minimalist, and the drinking water provided on arrival was appreciated. The service generally fits the price, so keep expectations modest. Room cleanliness could be better, which mattered to me. The bar is usually quiet but service can be slow, and breakfast is very basic.

We stayed three nights as a family of four and had booked two rooms. One day we left some of our children's toys in one room while we were out. When we came back that evening, they were gone. Reception said staff had assumed we had checked out because that room had no clothes in it, even though our other room still held all our belongings and we had not checked out. At first they said they would look for the toys. The next morning, staff said they couldn't find them and asked us for a list so they could arrange a refund. That evening, another receptionist said an investigation was underway and CCTV would be reviewed. We were leaving early the following morning, so I asked for the report and CCTV findings to be sent afterwards. More than three days have passed, and despite several emails, we've heard nothing. The toys meant a lot to our children, which made this even more upsetting. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication, follow-up, and resolution was extremely disappointing. This left us with a negative impression of what could otherwise have been a pleasant family stay.

It's relatively cheap for this area near the messe, and the staff are friendly. The terrace is a good place to smoke, have coffee, or relax. The rooms are a little small and there's no complimentary water in them. Breakfast was terrible and overpriced.
