First, double-check which place you’re heading to: there are two ‘The Flag’ hotels in Munich. Mine was in Moosach. It’s under a 10-minute walk to the local train station, then about 15-20 minutes on the U-Bahn to Marianplatz. There’s also a supermarket about five minutes away. The hotel itself is clean and modern, with friendly staff, excellent Wi-Fi, a rooftop, and a gym I didn’t use. The room had a small balcony with an outdoor blind for privacy, two comfortable twin beds as requested, a TV, and a little kitchenette with a fridge, sink, microwave, cutlery, and utensils. The fridge came with complimentary water and beer. The bathroom had a shower, toilet, sink, and towels. I believe cleaning happens every three days rather than daily. It could get rather hot in the room, though I’m sure staff would have fixed it if we’d mentioned it. The bathroom setup was the other drawback: a small glass panel in the shower wall lets you see between the bathroom and bedroom, so nighttime bathroom use could wake a light sleeper. The sliding bathroom door doesn’t fully close or lock, either. They provided one soap for body and hair, but I think there should also be antibacterial hand soap.

The room was clean, and the staff were polite and helpful. The location is handy for the S-Bahn or U-Bahn into the city centre, and the S-Bahn to the airport. It felt like good value. I couldn’t understand why the bathroom window looked straight into the room. That seemed especially odd in a twin room, and I can’t imagine what you’re meant to do if you’re sharing with a friend or family member. The bathroom supplies were sparse too. There was one bottle of shower gel and shampoo, but not even a small hand soap. Even cheaper hotels manage that.

I got a great deal. The room was spacious and clean, housekeeping was very thorough, and the kitchen had everything I needed. The shower was amazing, and the complimentary beer tasted good. I really enjoyed my stay.

The staff were the real standout, so professional and wonderful. The food was good too, and the clean room was just right for two. As a coffee lover, I especially liked having a coffee machine in the room. I’d recommend this hotel for a comfortable, pleasant stay in Munich.

The hotel is a quick walk from the train station, and our room was comfortable. We had an amazing stay as a couple. The decor felt inviting, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Nina. We’d definitely come back.
