The daily beach stage shows during holiday season were heavily audible from 11 to 21, and really loud. The resort felt heavily overpriced for its low standard. The room had odd furnishings, including huge bedside lamps that barely fit on the tiny tables. There was no phone, pencil, or paper, and no room service, tea, coffee, water kettle, snacks in the minibar, or vending machine. There’s no air conditioning, even though the room gets sun most of the day when it’s shining. Smoking was allowed only in a very small area for five people, with no rain shelter. You couldn’t smoke on your room balcony either. The balcony was dirty and hadn’t been painted or cleaned in at least eight years. There was no emergency button, and the TV sound in the bathroom was hard to turn off. The room had a bathtub with a shower, but water spilled onto the toilet area when using the shower. The wellness area was a joke, and there were no towels, so you had to bring one from the room’s essential set. Old, worn bathrobes were provided in the room. Despite what was stated and what we were told at check-in, the two tiny saunas, one steam and one wood, were open from 10 to 21 except Sundays, when they opened at 14, regardless of what you booked. The two large sauna showers worked, but were old and sprayed in all directions, sometimes including the person using them. There was one old drinking-water point and one huge bottle, but no reusable cups, only tiny paper ones. The pool was very cold and only a few people used it. It was just a large pool with water, no streaming or anything else. A basic hotel sauna and pool don’t make a wellness facility. There was no staff in the wellness area and no pool guards, so you had to go to reception if you needed anything. The dining menu was a bad joke: four dishes, each combining strange things. I’m sure the four stars the resort displays refer to the number of dishes available. The bar had no bartender. A restaurant waiter would fill in if they noticed you, so patience was needed. You were free to look anywhere on the property for the extra parking spot you’d booked. If there wasn’t one near your building, you just had to keep driving until you found a free space. There was only one parking spot for disabled people.
The pool was good and warm enough, though I’d have liked it 1-2 degrees warmer. It was our first visit, and the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The rooms were impeccably clean, and there were good food choices on site. We’ll likely come back someday.
It was a plus that they had gluten-free rolls and bread for me, as well as lactose-free milk. Still, there was almost nothing on the regular menu I could eat, so we had to go out for meals even in pouring rain. The hotel is in a good spot, and most of the staff were friendly. The rooms were small and outdated, and the pool was too cold to fully enjoy. The advert said most rooms had a balcony, but when we arrived we had to pay 150 extra to get one. That didn’t feel okay.
We’ve stayed twice now. The resort in Göhren has a lot of charm, and our sea-view room had a great view. It’s clean, with good room service and a lovely breakfast. You can go straight to the beach or to the Nordped forest.
Lovely hotel in a great location, and the staff were friendly. The one difficulty for a tourist is that nothing is written in English, which makes getting around a bit of a struggle.
