Hotel Residenz Passau

We booked a Corner room for two nights before our cruise, and the river views were beautiful. It was spacious, peaceful and well equipped. The room looked freshly renovated, with spotless surfaces, a wonderfully comfortable bed and a great rain shower. The service was friendly and excellent from beginning to end, and English is spoken. Breakfast is included, with plenty of choice. I'm usually not keen on hotel buffets, but this one was very good. The only small issue was the lack of blackout blinds. Because of the sloped ceiling, the curtains sit well away from the window, so light-sensitive sleepers might want to bring an eye mask. The location was perfect, and we'd absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended.

After 11 pm, there was nobody at reception to help when my key card stopped working, and the call center said they couldn't assist. The card had already failed the day before and again that afternoon. I'd repeatedly asked reception to reprogram it so I could get into room 201, but this time I was locked out and ended up trying to sleep on a couch in the hall after paying 200 euro per night. I've never had anything like this happen in my life. I can't find words for such terrible service. I called the police, but they said it was the hotel's issue and they couldn't do anything. I plan to send an official complaint with my lawyer. I have a flight from Munich tomorrow and hope this awful night doesn't make me miss it. Many thanks for this fantastic, horrible night.

The beds are very soft and cozy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked the hotel, which is in Passau's historical center, though the breakfast could be better. The Berliner bol was dry and tasted very old, and the butter knife and spoon weren't very clean. Aside from that, the breakfast was good.

The spa area is quite small, but really lovely. Our room was cozy and clean, and the location worked perfectly for going out in the old town. Breakfast was outstanding, and the staff were friendly and helpful. This beautiful hotel had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back. Thank you!
