Rhönhotel Alte Mühle

We found the rooms clean and thoughtfully furnished, and the service was very good. It's a nice hotel in a peaceful location, with a bus stop almost right outside and good connections to Fulda. Breakfast is on the small side but excellent. I'd recommend it whether you're in town for a trade fair or for a relaxing holiday.

We stayed at the RettMobil conference center, about a 15-minute drive from Fulda. The hotel is small and very quiet, and cleanliness was excellent. The food tasted good, though I would have liked slightly larger portions.

I would warn future guests away from this hotel. There was a dead animal under my pillow, the shower hadn't been cleaned, and when I raised it with the owner, they became rude. The owner said, "The rooms are cleaned regularly, these things happen, and I could have brought the animal with my own belongings." That last remark was absolutely outrageous. This was my first stay here, and it will be my last.

The location is lovely, surrounded by nature, and you can hear cows now and then. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and my travel group and I would recommend the hotel. The food in the restaurant was tasty, though very expensive. I took off four points for the drinks because the Fanta I ordered tasted awful, was warm and flat, and seemed to have been open for days. The room was large and nice, but the sun came in full force from morning to night unless the blinds were closed. The cleaning staff raised them every day, so when I got back the heat was almost unbearable. Other guests had rooms that only got morning sun and were cool in the evening. Because of this, I could only use the balcony in the evenings and late at night. The room cleaning was, in my opinion, a complete failure. The rooms are a bit dated, and the breakfast buffet felt rather meager for four people. I also took off a point because there weren't enough smoke detectors in the rooms. With wooden ceilings, I think each room should have one, along with two in the hallway instead of just one. The "Emergency Exit" sign is no use when all you can see are circuit boards. Please fix this for guest safety.
