Aparthotel Mittermeiers Alter Ego

For a single night, this was a comfortable, spacious choice for two. The room was clean and modern, and the bed was especially large and cosy. It had almost everything we needed. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, which worked well for our road trip stop. The shower was great, though the sink area felt a bit awkward, especially for a longer stay. We could also hear some road noise from just outside.

The air conditioning never really cooled the room, which made sleeping hard. We opened the windows, but then traffic noise came in, even with the good soundproofing. There’s also a glass bathroom door, so privacy is limited. Aside from that, we really enjoyed Mittermeiers Alter Ego. The room felt modern and comfortable, with exposed brick, a great bed and an easy smart TV setup. Netflix worked well. The shared areas were a highlight too, with a Moccamaster, plus a trust bar offering local wine and snacks at good prices. The whole place has a stylish, premium feel. It’s a short walk into town, and parking right out front was convenient and felt safe. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated them lowering the fee for our small dog.

The architecture of Mittermeiers Alter Ego is worth seeing, and the furniture and kitchen equipment around the Trust bar are impressive. Our room was spotless, spacious and full of luxury details, including double shower heads. The hotel’s location was excellent too. We had breakfast at the main Hotel Mittermeiers, about 100 metres away. The menu was fantastic, with flavours that really delighted the palate, and it was a well-deserved one-star Michelin experience for 2024. For what you get, the prices felt fair and affordable. I’d strongly recommend visiting Rothenburg ob der Tauber and staying here. It was a unique experience, one of the best quality stays I’ve had anywhere.

Just a block beyond the old city walls, the location was hard to beat. We’d happily stay here again. Our Deluxe Double was newly renovated, bright and roomy, with lovely decor and thoughtful furniture and lighting. It had a big shower with dual rainfall heads, a separate soaking tub and plenty of natural light. Service was just as good: we got an early check-in, the shared kitchen was well stocked, daily cleaning was solid, and the property was kept in excellent shape. One of the nicest hotel stays I’ve had.
