The hotel is nice, but I don’t think it deserves four stars. The staff weren’t attentive enough, and management left the place with a strained atmosphere. The restaurant was far below what I’d expect at a four-star hotel. Half-board meals felt sparse, and there were basic cooking mistakes. The pasta was overcooked into mush, which is unforgiveable. It felt as though there was a tradesperson in the kitchen instead of a chef. The food was prepared without much care or attention. Disappointing. Lieblos.

The breakfast had plenty of choice, and we enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant too. Our room was nice, and we even booked a massage, which we both loved. My brother and I stayed at Hotel Inselfriede on Spiekeroog from September 5th to 7th. The service was especially good: they helped carry our bags upstairs because I had my young daughter and her stroller with me. We had a wonderful stay.

The air in my room was so poor, with a cigarette smell, that I asked if I could move. The receptionist turned me down rudely, and the caretaker brought an ozone machine. With the machine running, the windows had to stay open, which only made the situation put me in a bad mood. At more than 194 euros a night for a single room, I expected a lot better. The receptionist also wasn't particularly warm when I arrived. I chose not to spend anything at the bars or restaurants there, and would rather support other businesses on this otherwise idyllic, friendly island. The day before, I paid 50 euros for an Airbnb and was welcomed much more kindly. I felt at home right away. Sad...
