We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, and having an English menu made things easy for us yanks. The German food was heavy, with lots of meat, some starch, and sauerkraut, but I liked it. The blooded sausage was a bit tough for me. Otherwise, a good experience.

I used to stay at other hotels in this small town, but this is now my first choice. It's newer and nicer than the others, and convenient for walking to restaurants and shops. The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to make guests comfortable. The hotel is clean, and the rooms are quiet, with comfortable beds. There are regular single rooms as well as apartments. My apartment was very spacious, with pots, pans, and eating utensils for cooking, plus a walk-out terrace. Secure underground parking and an elevator to the apartment rooms are especially handy in bad weather or when loading the car for an early departure.

I left very disappointed after the meal and service. A few months ago, both had been really good, so I went back today in the snowstorm before flying to the US, hoping for a good German meal. The salad was extremely salty. The codon-blue seemed frozen and deep fried in old oil, and the french fry made that even more obvious. The Spätzle was nowhere near homemade. One swein medallion was very dry and the other tasted sour. When I brought it up with the waitress, there was no sign of regret or apology. This was the worst food and service I've had in a long time.
