Hotel Alpha

We had a very disappointing stay. Our booking was for 12-13 August, but the message through Booking.com gave the wrong dates, 11-12 August, and we had to correct that ourselves. When we arrived, the access code was also wrong. We stood outside for 30 minutes, calling repeatedly and waiting for a response. There was confusion about the pet policy too. I booked thinking the property allowed pets, but it turned out it didn’t. The staff handled that unpleasantly, telling us to hand back the key and leave right away. That was especially frustrating after we’d already spent half an hour outside because of their mistake. Communication was poor, hospitality was lacking, and the customer service was unacceptable. I can’t recommend this property.

The rooftop terrace was a nice place to relax and smoke. Staff were really kind, too, and let me stay two extra hours at no charge so I didn’t have to leave early for my train. The hotel is pleasant and a short walk from public transport.

The restaurant was already closed when I arrived, but the employee still served me. The place was comfortable, affordable, and in a good location.

The nearby stations are about 7 and 10 minutes away on foot, and Cannstatter Wasen is roughly 20 minutes by train. There’s shopping around the hotel, too. I’d recommend it for a short stay. I was there for work. My room was nothing special, but spacious enough, and it had a balcony. Construction outside woke me around 6:30-7:00, though I had to get up early anyway. Despite facing a busy street, it was quiet in the evenings. Breakfast wasn’t included, but I could get it at the restaurant downstairs. Food smells reached the hotel hallways, which was a downside, though not a major one.
