The only real problem came on our first night: the door lock didn’t work, so we unknowingly slept in an unlocked room and only noticed after breakfast. They apologized and moved us to another room. Still, after an incident like that, I expected some goodwill gesture, maybe a complimentary dinner, coffee and cake, a fruit basket, or a bottle of wine in the room. Nothing like that was offered. Otherwise, it’s a pleasant family hotel with regional style, on a quiet, charming street in a peaceful suburb. It was clean and cozy, with a decent breakfast. Nothing extraordinary, but good, including pretzels. The receptionist and staff wore traditional regional outfits.

The room was wide, and breakfast was good. It’s easy to reach the hotel, and it’s not too far from the city center. A very nice place.

The restaurant in the hotel is a separate business, but we ate very well there. Prices were fair, and the service was great with kids. The hotel itself is good value, with free parking and a supermarket just up the street. It’s also handy for the Mercedes museum, about five minutes by car or a 25-minute walk, which we managed with the kids. The train is only a few minutes away on foot, so getting into Stuttgart centre is easy. Staff were friendly and spoke English. Our room felt dated, and the cleaning could have been better: the carpets looked a little dirty and the sheets weren’t changed during our two-night stay. The two mattresses kept sliding apart, and the beds were hard as bricks. We did have a nice view of trees and windows that opened. Breakfast was fine for the low price, nothing special.

The cozy interior and large outdoor patio both make this a pleasant place to eat, and the service is friendly. The Swabian food is good again now that there’s been a newer chef for a while. On my visit a few years ago, it was a different chef and the meal was poor. It’s back to being a very good Swabian option.

I’ve stayed here once a year for five years, and I can’t wait to come back. The staff are amazing, the food is delicious, and the beer and schnapps are excellent. I’ve never had a better breakfast anywhere. This is easily the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
