Motel One Stuttgart-Hauptbahnhof

I’m very disappointed with the staff, especially the hotel manager, Mr Totskas, who made us leave and cancelled our reservation. We had a brand-new, clean road bike that we wanted to keep in our room. Mr Totskas said that wasn’t allowed, but when I asked where the rule was written, he couldn’t show me. He suggested leaving the bike in the garage or luggage room, neither of which was secure enough for an expensive bike. The restriction isn’t mentioned on the hotel website or Booking.com, and our room had space for the bike without blocking the way out. The manager was rude and completely unfriendly, and offered no real solution or help. We moved to another hotel in the same chain, Stuttgart mitte, where they let us bring the bike frame to the room with the wheels removed and left in storage. Bike tourists, beware. This hotel showed no respect for bike lovers. Shame on Mr.Totskas.

The check-in made the stay feel unacceptable from the start. We asked for a non-smoking room, but the request was ignored. When we politely brought it up again, the receptionist raised her voice and argued with us. She had already been rude, aggressive, and unprofessional, and we saw her treat other guests badly too. Whatever the hotel offers in terms of facilities, that behavior ruined the experience.

The service gets a 5 from me: they let me into my room early, and the staff were excellent. The location is very central, also a 5. The room itself was poor, though, and gets a 3. There was no fridge or kettle, which I consider basic. I’d give the stay a 4 overall.

I was only just arriving for a last-minute trip to a spontaneous Bachelor reunion at the Wasen (Oktoberfest in Stuttgart). The two young women on shift were kind and professional, and the interior design caught my eye almost as much. I also found the perfect parking spot underneath the building before taking the elevator. Definitely again :)
