Hotel Boulevard

Everything was within walking distance, so the location was perfect. I was worried after reading some reviews, but my stay turned out pleasant. The staff were polite and helpful when I arrived. The room was a little dated, and there was a slight damp smell from the bathroom, though it wasn't offensive. The bed was comfortable and the room stayed warm overnight. Breakfast the next morning was nice, with a good variety of cured meats, cheese, bread, yoghurt, fruit, and pastries.

The cigarette smell was everywhere, in the rooms and hallways, and it was hard to stay in the room with the window shut. Street noise was just as bad. I could hear people outside, in nearby rooms, and in the hallway, since there's no soundproofing. My window faced the Arabic cafe across the street, and people there screamed and played music loudly all night. Closing the window didn't help, and the police did nothing. When I asked reception to move me for even one night, they said the hotel was fully booked, which clearly didn't seem true. The place looked half-abandoned, despite having several hundred rooms. I even offered to make the bed myself, but they still refused. The decor feels straight out of the 70s. The plumbing may be relatively new, but everything feels incredibly cheap: faucets are coming loose, the shower head won't stay put, and the curtain covers only half of the tiny shower, so water gets all over the floor. Wi-Fi was terrible, and in some rooms it didn't work at all. For the price, I could easily rent a nice city-center apartment on Booking and stay comfortably.

The hotel was central and clean, but we were freezing. The radiators were ice cold, and there was no hot water, so we couldn't shower. We stayed five nights and had to use cold water for the last two days. I told reception, but they said it was a hotel-wide problem. The internet was very poor too.

For 120 EUR a night, I expected a room bigger than a monastery cell and working WiFi. In room 435 the signal strength was next to nothing, and there wasn't even a glass for brushing my teeth. The bed was OK, and breakfast was included. Booking.com says there's parking but doesn't make clear that it costs extra, which isn't fair.
