Breakfast was a highlight, with familiar staples alongside plenty of local specialties. Service was prompt and friendly too. The room was extremely clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms looked brand new. It seemed like the whole hotel had just been remodeled. A very nice hotel close to phantasialand.

After driving through England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany all in one day, we arrived pretty worn out. The hotel itself was fine, with parking directly opposite and a pleasant outdoor area where you could sit, relax, have a drink or eat. It’s among houses, though, with no real views. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. As in many German and French hotels, there was no coffee-making setup in the room, which is a shame. Dinner was fine, but not cheap, and £7.50 for a bottle of water felt like a real rip-off. The welcome wasn’t very warm. My wife speaks German, but the receptionist spoke very quickly. My wife did her best and apologised when she couldn’t keep up, but the woman repeated herself at the same speed and didn’t help her understand. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding, with more choice than you could want: fresh fruit, cold meats, yoghurt, smoked salmon, scrambled and fried eggs, bacon, German sausages and more. The breakfast staff member was completely different from the evening before, all smiles and very welcoming. A smile really does make a difference.

We were eight people, and the restaurant prepared our requested special meals for dinner perfectly. The food was excellent, and the staff were really nice and helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, especially the bathroom. Free parking had enough spaces, and the small hotel is conveniently close to Cologne in a small village. A kettle for hot water in the rooms would be a welcome addition. Highly recommend.

The back garden balcony was a favorite, facing an empty hill so it felt like having a private terrace. The room itself was small but clean, and the bed was comfortable. I only wish the spa area had a pool or bath, somewhere to take a dip after the sauna.

We rented the apartment, which was brand new, spacious and really nice. It still needs a little warmth, but the hotel owners kept asking for tips and what we needed. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were very good, and the new SPA is beautifully done too.
