Hotel Zur Post Trier

I changed my booking at very short notice and arrived long after reception had closed. I called the owner, who kindly drove over to check me in. The hotel is small, with cosy, clean rooms, good beds and very friendly staff. It’s quiet and close to the centre without being right in it, which suited me perfectly. I had an event practically around the corner and could still go into town for evening drinks. I had an enjoyable, comfortable stay.

We had dinner at the restaurant next door, which has nice outdoor seating on its back terrace, though it was $$ . Our room for three was modern, newly furnished and very clean, with comfortable beds and a quiet feel. The bathroom was exceptional, especially the shower. Front desk and breakfast staff were very friendly, and breakfast was very good.

The room was a bit dark, and the layout felt impractical, with lots of steps and a space that was much deeper than it was wide. The place feels old fashioned. It’s on the wrong bank for getting to other restaurants and sights. It’s easy to reach from the freeway, but parking is awful: there is space, though it’s bumpy and across a busy street.

The staff were friendly and the place was clean, and dinner was nice. Breakfast was a bit limited, though. The rooms are next to an extremely loud road, and they got very hot in midsummer. There’s no air conditioning, and the pillows were hard.
