Otel Våbensted Bed & Breakfast

We stayed in a family room with our kids, aged 9 and 4, for two nights and had no complaints. It’s a good value place, though not a five-star hotel, and we’d happily return. Breakfast was good, but a few vegetables would be a nice addition to the buffet. It’s also not far from Knutenborg safari park, so it worked well for our family.

The calm atmosphere and lovely decor made this a really nice place. There’s a mini fridge in the room, very clean toilets, shared spaces with soft sofas, and a kids’ playground in the garden.

The host’s thoughtfulness made this stay especially memorable. He secured my bike in his private shed, pointed out where I could find a pump, and arranged a quiet room for me without being asked, even though a large family gathering was taking place. I’m very glad I found the place and don’t take that hospitality for granted. The room had a great view, a fridge, and everything I needed. There’s no TV, but the internet was very stable, and I slept well on the good mattress. The shared showers were spotless and felt more like a spacious bathroom than a youth hostel setup. Breakfast was fresh and very good. I’m writing this from the lovely porch while enjoying it.

The vintage feel is nice, and breakfast was good, but several things could use attention. The sheets, towels, and kitchen utensils should be cleaner, and most of the plug sockets had no electricity. There were no trash cans, only one tiny kitchen, and some rooms had a sink. Mosquito nets on all the windows and garden doors would help. Sharing the baths and toilets is fine when the hotel isn’t full. Check-out at 10 is too early, though they may give you longer if you ask.
