Résidence Fort-de-l'Eau

The person who gave us the key was nice, and there were some good things about the place, but we had a bad experience. Cockroaches were everywhere, including the kitchen, bedroom, living room and toilet. We could also hear two people in the next room insulting each other late at night, and the wifi was too far away. In room 12, the kitchen itself was fine, but its button didn’t work. I’m mentioning it so they can fix it. If these two problems are sorted out, I’d recommend going there. Otherwise, don’t stay at the residence.

The host was kind, professional and respectful, and regularly checked that I had what I needed. I rented this little studio in autumn 2014 for three months in Algeria, to see if I might want to stay in the country long term. It was a wonderful experience, with no complaints. The neighborhood was quiet and lovely, with all kinds of shops and restaurants, the tram for getting around the city, and the sea barely five minutes from the door. The apartment felt comfortable and homey. It was spotless, the bedroom was clean and cozy, and the furniture was brand new. The kitchen was well equipped, and the internet, television and appliances all worked flawlessly. I highly recommend it to anyone.

The apartments have really gone downhill. They used to be spotless, but now we found cockroaches in two of them. The windows don’t close, there are no fans, and the air conditioner in the living room doesn’t work. What are you meant to do in the bedroom? All the furniture is chewed up and worn out, and some of the wooden beds are broken, like someone or a rat has eaten them. The cleaning lady can do her best, but there are things she can’t fix. The toilet wouldn’t flush, and the shower hose was disconnected. She told me everything worked. I screwed the hose back on myself, but it was still leaking. She should at least tell the truth, especially after assuring me there were no cockroaches in the other apartment.
