Hostal Ile

The location made it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and everything else we needed, and the parking felt safe and was very accommodating. The hotel and restaurant are run by a lovely family, and their sweet golden retriever made it even harder to leave. The bed and bedding were as comfortable as home. Each morning they served delicious coffee and breakfast to hotel guests. We didn't get to try the Mexican food for dinner, but it smelled and looked delicious. The service was wonderful, and I couldn't find a single fault.

We came during Carnaval and found the hotel across from the town park, where bands and a big party were going on. It added to the atmosphere and made it easy for us tourists to join in. The place is also near Termas de la Virgen, with restaurants, shops, and the town center an easy walk away. Our room was clean and comfortable, the owners and staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was simple but delicious. Toni, a gorgeous, clean, well-trained, super friendly golden retriever, was a highlight. The one drawback was the deposit they wanted to hold the room. Foreign wire fees made that difficult for us. Thankfully, we reassured them we were committed to staying, and they kept the room for us. We also kept in touch regularly by What's App.

In October 2021, I came for Halloween, which was a big plus. The location is perfect for Baños, just a five-minute walk from the main street nightlife. Best of all, I could wake up, look right, and see a waterfall by the thermal waters, then head over for some good hydrotherapy despite my hangover.

My friends and I booked three nights through Airbnb the day before going to Baños. When we arrived, they said the price listed on Airbnb was wrong and told us we had to pay for two more nights or couldn't stay. With no certainty that we'd find another vacant room in Baños, this put us in a tough spot. Hostal Ilé didn't care, even though the listing mistake was theirs. They never apologized and tried not to refund our money properly. In the end, they paid us back in a pile of coins. Dios mío... Their service when greeting us was awful. They were rude, unkind, and even threatened to call the police to make us leave. We found another hostel with friendlier, nicer staff for a much lower price. Other reviews here are great, but our experience wasn't.
