The room was clean and the staff were great, but the street noise was so loud at 11 p.m. that I couldn't get to sleep. Unless you plan to stay up drinking in the street or you're drunk enough to pass out, I wouldn't stay here on a Saturday night.

From the dining area, hot pool, and sauna, all together, the view over the city and mountains, including the waterfall, is fantastic. Breakfast was decent, and there’s a garage. The price is negotiable, too. It’s close to Baños’s main areas, but the rooms are basic and cleanliness could be an issue. If you're obsessive about clean places, DO NOT stay here.

We heard noise all night on both nights, and the beds felt like sleeping on concrete. The room was tiny and smelled awful. The pool wasn't very good, none of the spa amenities worked during our visit, and the shower was cold each morning.

The jacuzzi pool feels amazing after a day hiking or exploring around baños, and the hotel is clean, lovely, and well priced. They sometimes shut the pool earlier than advertised, though. Also, the electronic store below starts blasting music at 9 a.m. It carries up to the third floor like it's in your room, so don't expect a lie-in.

Watch out, there are two hotels called Elvira, and this one comes up when you're searching for the other. The big marquis adds to the confusion. The other hotel quoted me $28 for three adults. At this one, the Evita with the big marquis said it was Elvita, and the manager convinced me it was the same place, but charged me twice what the other hotel would have cost. Don't trust what they tell you. The hotel was dirty and poorly maintained.
