Hotel 4 Ríos

The place looked grubby and sat by a very busy road. Stay only if you have no other choice. Sleeping in the street might be preferable. We arrived with a confirmed room and a welcoming message, but were told we couldn't stay because we hadn't paid a deposit when booking with Booking, even though that wasn't a requirement. There were no apologies, just extraordinary rudeness and no help. They blamed us for what was clearly their overbooking because of the City Fair. While I was trying to find somewhere else, they told us to "get out" because we weren't staying. That was offensive on another level. If I could give minus stars, I would.

The place feels dated, and the elevator wasn’t working. They also don’t help with bags. I found Airbnb options that were much better and even cheaper.

The room we got was pretty rough, and it may have been overpriced.

We arrived at midnight in the rain, three women with nowhere else to go, and were told we could leave if we didn’t like the room, but would only get half our money back. The room itself was awful and the beds had dust mites. The whole mess began when we booked through Booking.com and the hotel asked us to cancel and pay them directly. Because it was a holiday, I transferred the money so we wouldn’t risk having no room. The staff were incredibly rude. A truly terrible experience.
