Hotel GH Sander

The first floor I saw looked modern and updated, but I’d gone to the wrong floor. Mine had dim hallway lighting and roaches in the room, so I asked to move. The other room was bigger and cleaner, though still on a floor with dim lights, and it felt really old and worn out. There was no hot water, the bathroom was small and the bed uncomfortable. The AC worked. The TV had nothing to watch, with lots of blocked channels.

We booked two supposedly identical rooms, both advertised with a double bed and AC, but they were quite different. One had air conditioning but no hot water in the bathroom; the other had a nice bathroom and no air conditioning. After we went out one morning, we came back to find our door unlocked and all the building keys left in it. That was terrible security.

Good hotel, and the attention from the staff was excellent.

Very, very bad. Almost $350 was stolen from our room while we were out for dinner, even though we’d definitely locked it with the keys. Some of the money was tucked into a tiny pocket in my bag, one that couldn’t be opened in public places like buses or stations. I still don’t understand how it happened. The guy at reception said they couldn’t see anything on the camera recordings and that it sometimes happened. They completely ruined my holiday in Ecuador!
