The place was extremely run-down and dirty. There was a strong mold and mildew smell, the toilet hadn’t been cleaned in a month, and the sheets on my bed hadn’t been washed before I arrived. I had to ask twice for toilet paper, soap, and a towel for my private bathroom. Hot water was advertised, but there wasn’t any in the shower. There was no staff member around when I needed help.
The hostal was cheap and right in the center of town near restaurants, but I was very unimpressed. Cleanliness was a major issue: the bathrooms and kitchen looked like they’d never been cleaned, and they were often out of soap and toilet paper. The double bed was a stained mattress with a twin-sized sheet laid across the middle, and the pillows were old and flattened. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and there was no fan or air conditioning. Smoking was common among staff and many guests, in case that bothers you.
A great hostal in an amazing little town. Highly recommend it if you want somewhere super relaxed, away from the craziness in montañita.
Friendly, knowledgeable people, a great beach, and a nice hostel.
The lodge feels cozy and clean, and the staff are kind and helpful.
