Omar made the stay feel like time with friends. He’s kind, welcoming, and experienced, and shared local tips, showed me around, and helped me have a great time. My colorful SpongeBob room had blue, sea-inspired walls and a view of banana trees and singing birds. There’s a well-equipped shared kitchen and a private gym, a big plus if you like to stay active. It’s close to town, yet peaceful, so yes, you can find a calm place in Montañita.

Omar is amazing, and this place is remarkably quiet for being so close to the strip. The rates are hard to match around here: $5 for a bed, or $10 for a private room for 1-2 people, with a private bathroom in each room. Fans keep you cool, and there’s a shared hot-water shower as well as a cold shower in your room. THE place to stay in Montañita! :)

I slept really well for all four nights, though there are chickens, so you’ll hear clucking and the occasional crow. This is a chilled-out hostel just outside Montañita’s party area, with affordable private rooms and private bathrooms. Omar is great, and will teach you lots if you ask. He’s also a surf instructor. The wifi was good enough for me to work from my room the whole time. A lovely little guesthouse.

It’s a rustic, peaceful place where you can enjoy the beach and nightlife in Montañita, then get some sleep and enjoy nature. The hostel is a bit far from the town center, and the owner is very nice. I’d definitely recommend it!

We came because of the good reviews, but regretted staying. The room looked unfinished, the shower didn’t work, and the neighbors were very noisy. The guy working there seemed not to care when we complained, then left the hostel five minutes later. We stayed one night, and it was terrible.
