The steep walk up to this Hostal was worth it. We’d been searching around town for somewhere quiet, since most hotels and hostals are on busy streets, and this place was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are cosy, there’s hot water and a beautiful view, and it’s very quiet. A simple breakfast is included, which we appreciated. The staff are all indigenous and super friendly. If the hill feels too steep, take a taxi. They could use your support to keep this big building running.

Our private room was really more like a studio, with great views of the town and sunset. It was spacious and very clean, with plenty of blankets and hot shower water when the electricity was working. We also had a wonderful whiskers neighbor. The hosts were kind and helpful, sorting out part of our trip when we thought we’d have to cancel, driving us into town when we had trouble with the ATM, and arranging a taxi to visit the laguna. We had an amazing three-night stay. Thank you for everything.

This feels more like a villa than a hostel, and the family who runs it is so charming and friendly. Our room was the cleanest we’ve rented in the country. The place looks out over the valley and feels serene, yet cafes and restaurants are close enough to reach on foot. Such a gem.

The host family were super friendly and quick to respond, and I was welcomed with warmth and useful recommendations for my five-day stay. The rooms are a good size, everything is very clean, and the view is magnificent. The climb uphill is worth it for that view. I usually walked down to the town centre, about 10 minutes, then took a taxi back up for 1.5-2 dollars. Recommended!

They canceled our reservation when we arrived, even though we’d booked days ahead, because they had overbooked. They sent us to another place in town run by a relative, and it was mediocre at best. What disappointed me most was how nonchalant they were about the whole situation.
