Puembo Birding Garden - Bird watchers and Nature Lovers

I only got to spend one night at Puembo Birding Garden, though my itinerary would have allowed for a longer visit if it had permitted. Mercedes is attentive and such a lovely host, and I left feeling I’d made a new friend. It was great being around other bird enthusiasts. There are a couple of feeders in the garden that bring in quite a few species, and good photography spots nearby too. I especially enjoyed the meadow behind the hotel. I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Quito.

Mercedes was the highlight for me. She’s a wonderful host who went out of her way to help with birding information, airport rides, and making me feel at home. I’d highly recommend this place to birders passing through Quito. It’s conveniently close to the airport, with a nice garden and feeders that attract plenty of species. The surrounding neighborhood is birdy too. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had good hot water. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and breakfast was delicious.

We met some of the pets and went birdwatching both on the property and around the neighborhood. Mercedes and her daughter Kelly also arranged rides to and from the airport and served us a wonderful lunch and dinner. They made us feel like family. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer. We’ll definitely return.

We made Puembo our base for a birding tour with Neblina Tours. The rooms and bathrooms were roomy and very clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Mercedes took care of us like family and made sure we had everything we needed. Such a great stay.
