We had booked a room 1,5 months ahead, but after arriving in Santa-Cruz following a long day of travel, we waited 40 min. at reception. We tried contacting the host, who replied after a very long delay. She then told us, without apologising, that our room was no longer available and she'd booked us into another hotel belonging to some relatives of hers. There had been no message beforehand about the change, even though there was plenty of time to tell us. If she'd let us know earlier, we wouldn't have minded switching. Instead, we were left with no real choice but to stay somewhere we never would have booked ourselves. This was inconsiderate and extremely rude, and we were really disappointed.

It's a simple place, but a private room for about $45 was a good deal for a night or two. The ferry is a 2-minute walk away and the main street is 1 minute away. Ecuador is the 98th country I've visited, and I thought this place was good. If you find things to complain about here, you really should stay home and not go anywhere.

The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. We spent 3 days in Santa Cruz and really liked this hostel. It's close to everything, with comfortable beds, CATV, hot water, and AC. I'd highly recommend it and come back again.

The rooms were clean, new, and well kept, the AC worked great, and the staff were friendly. Still, there was no hot water, it was very, very noisy, and the bed wasn't comfortable.

Costa del pacifico has a large balcony with comfortable chairs, a nice spot for breakfast or some sun. It's very well placed downtown, near lots of restaurants. The rooms are quite good, with hot water, air conditioning, a refrigerator, and cable TV. The Wi-Fi is very slow, though that may not be something they can control. The staff are very friendly, and I highly recommend this place.
