We couldn't get in touch with the woman after asking for a fan. She'd disappeared, and our messages and calls to the number we found went unanswered. We had our own pillows, which was lucky because the ones there had hair on them. The shower barely worked, the worst one we had during five months of travel. There was no shared space, and no security measures on the building entrance either. When we asked about the air-conditioning remote, we were simply told it wasn't working, with no explanation. The service was very poor, so I definitely don't recommend this hostal.

The Wi-Fi was really poor, and the whole stay was below par. Before checkout, while all our luggage and phones were still in the room, the cleaning lady came in. She could have taken them, though thankfully she didn't. Not a good experience, and I wouldn't recommend it.

A woman approached me in the street and asked me in Spanish to come with her. She took me across the street to Hostal Miconia and offered me a room for $20 a night. I'd accidentally booked somewhere 14 miles from Puerto Ayora, so I was lost and confused when the bus left me in town. The room was plain and homey, with air conditioning, a balcony, TV, mini fridge, and hot water. For a solo traveler looking for an inexpensive stay in a very expensive place, that was plenty.

The host was really friendly, and it's a well-located place to stay for a few days in Santa Cruz. Our room had air-conditioning, though the shower was really bad and the kitchen was a bit limited.

We booked here, but they had no room for us and sent us six blocks inland to some janky place. Everyone had to huddle in the room where the AC worked. If you want to stay where you found online, I'd avoid this place.
