Hotel Red Booby

The staff were wonderful, and the room was serviced well every day. Breakfast was cooked to order, too. The place itself was fine for us, though I would have liked more amenities and a more up-to-date hotel. The bed was the real problem: unbelievably firm, far beyond any firm mattress I’ve slept on. I tossed around all night and woke up sore every day.

Those hammocks downstairs were a nice place to relax, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. The rooms are small, but they have what you need, and the basic breakfast gets the day started. I’d stay again if I expected to spend most of my time out exploring. It’s a good place to come back to after a full day out.

We ran out of time before we could try the pool, though it looked very inviting. The hotel itself was really nice and right in the heart of Porto Ayora. Breakfast was the one letdown. It could have been a lot better.

I strongly recommend avoiding bookings through vigaltravel, especially for the darwin yacht. We were lied to, my boyfriend was hit by the guide with the dingi, crew members hit on the single passangers, and after an accident the boat's logbook had a page torn out. It felt like fraud. We had enjoyed the cruise until March 1, 2019, even though some passangers weren't happy. Then, around 21:45, the boat hit something. A lot of us felt the impact. We woke up the next morning in the same place between baltra and santa cruz. They said a fisherman's rope had caught the boat, but that explanation didn't sound right to us. The company's Policies say passengers should be moved to another boat in that situation, and they didn't move us. Instead, they suggested taking the dingue around for three hours without getting off to walk or snorkel. We refused and insisted on something else. They took us to puerto ayuro for a day trip, and the guide promised we'd do everything we'd missed the following day. That evening we were back on the darwin, and they said the boat would head to san cristobal that night. They tried to repair it with two fishermen and a compressor with a motor, which seemed not only ineffective but dangerous for the „divers“. The guide then said regulations meant we couldn't do the activities we'd missed. After 16 years as a guide, he should have known that before promising them. We think he was just lying. The next morning we woke up in the same spot between baltra and santa cruz again. We were angry because they'd lied to us twice. We looked at the captain's logbook to find out what had really happened during the accident, and a page from that night had been torn out. That's illegal, and it definitely didn't seem like a coincidence.
