Cerro Azul

Friendly staff, a clean and great kitchen, and a convenient spot close to everything. They have rooms in different sizes, though the cheaper ones, like number 8, are very small. This was the only place where we had to buy water after eight weeks of traveling in Ecuador.

Isabela Island was magical, and the hosts at Cerro Azul welcomed us with wonderful hospitality. Check-in was easy, they gave us great recommendations, and when our AC stopped working, they quickly moved us to another room. They also arranged a taxi for 5AM. The Wi-Fi was fast enough for Zoom meetings, and most places in town were nearby, with a laundry next door and a supermarket across the street. The thing we'll remember most about the kindness of Isabela and the Galapagos is forgetting our GoPro. We left the camera and its case at the hotel and only realized after boarding the ferry to Santa Cruz. We messaged Cerro Azul, and they found it. Within five minutes, they had contacted a boat captain and arranged for him to bring it to us in Santa Cruz on the next ferry at 3PM, for $10. We were so relieved and grateful.

This cozy hostel was perfect for our stay on Isabella and great value for the money. The kitchen area was really nice, with a hammock and everything we needed to cook. The place was clean and lovely. Highly recommended.

The hosts were welcoming and helpful, and the rooms were clean and serviced every day. The kitchen was well equipped, though basic, as you'd expect. We recommended Cerro Azul to other travelers, and they enjoyed their stay too. It's fairly central in Puerto Villamil, about a five-minute walk from the main square. There's a great bakery around the corner, along with the Banco de Guayaquil, and a good shop around the opposite corner.
