Boutique Hotel Casa Foch

A really good bed and breakfast in a central spot.

We stayed here for our study abroad program, and the staff were amazing. They were always willing to answer our questions and helped us find nearby stores when we needed extra supplies. The nature themed rooms are thoughtfully put together, and everything is very clean. You can tell a lot of care goes into the hotel. The location was okay, though it felt a little sketchy as a traveler. The walls are VERY thin, so excited conversations and outdoor sounds carry clearly, even if ordinary talking isn't much of a problem. I'd stay here again.

The rooms look great and the service is super friendly, all at an affordable price. They can arrange a trusted taxi and give very specific local tips. Plaza Foch is just a few steps away, which is a great place to visit at night, and there are plenty of restaurants, coffee and chocolate shops, pharmacies, barbers, and more nearby. They don't accept credit cards at the moment, so hopefully that changes soon.

Casa Foch is in a handy spot near lively Foch Square, though that also means party noise. My room was adequate, but the windows opened onto a fully enclosed "courtyard," so there wasn't much ventilation and I got overheated. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. You do need to ask the hotel to turn on the hot water before showering because of the pumps. The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful, easily the best customer service I've had in Ecuador. That was a real bright spot in an otherwise lackluster stay. For the price and location, it's a decent bargain, and the service really was exceptional.
