Hotel Casa Gardenia

The location is excellent, right by Quito centre, and the area felt safe. It was very quiet, too, and there’s a great rooftop terrace view across the rooftops. Staff were helpful when you could find them. This is a bed and breakfast with no bar. Tea and coffee are available in the breakfast area, though I could order a beer at reception. Breakfast was average, and there’s no lift. The building is an old house, with an original front and a glass atrium over the courtyard. It’s a photogenic mix of old and modern that feels light and airy, though it may not suit everyone.

The map they gave us with food and sightseeing suggestions was spot on. We ate at several of the recommended restaurants and felt we’d made the most of our trip. Freddy, their regular airport transfer driver, was wonderful, and the price was reasonable and comparable. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, and the rooftop views are excellent. This boutique hotel combines a modern industrial design with a heritage building, and its location makes the historic center easy to explore. Sound carries around the hotel, but guests seemed aware of it and generally kept quiet. We’d recommend staying here and would return.

Andres made our visit memorable. We enjoyed the personalized service, clean rooms, and a nice breakfast with excellent hot chocolate. It’s a small boutique hotel, within walking distance of lots of sights. We had a lovely stay.

Breakfast was a generous spread of fresh fruit, breads, meats and cheeses, eggs cooked just right, yogurt, and granola. Everything was fresh and clearly prepared with care. Our room at Hotel Casa Gardenia was spacious and clean, and the sunset views each evening were spectacular. The interior courtyard, along with the modern stairs and walkways, made an inspiring biophilic feature. In lively Quito, this hotel felt like a calm, comfortable place to return to after exploring. The owner Andres was genuinely friendly, and the attentive, curious staff made me feel welcome from the start.
