The view of Chimborazo from my room made the stay even better, and the meals were delicious, from breakfast through dinner. Everyone on staff was warm and ready to help, so I had a really pleasant visit at Hotel Zeus in Riobamba. I also liked seeing the owner putting money into new attractions for the future and working to improve the hotel. I had a great time and would certainly recommend it.

We live nearby and tried the restaurant, but we didn’t stay at the hotel. My wife’s soup arrived cold, and she had to send it back to be heated. The coffee was weak instant coffee. I ordered Cordon Bleu for $10.50, but got some kind of beef with mortadella and cheese, deep fried in a thick crust, with fries and a little salad. We won’t return. Riobamba has plenty of better options.

The food is the strongest part here, with good taste and prices. The hotel itself was decent, though it needs quite a few upgrades to feel more modern. From the top floor you get a great city view, and on a clear day the views of Chimborazo and the other volcanoes are amazing.

For $5, you can get the breakfast buffet even if you aren’t staying at Hotel Zeus. It has a fine dining feel, with fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads and spreads, omelets, real coffee, tea, juices, and more. It’s also one of the few breakfast places that reliably opens early.

The place is very clean, and the staff are great. The music nearby is so loud it feels like it’s right outside your room. That might suit young people looking to party, but it wasn’t for me.
