Pyramisa Island Hotel Aswan

The one thing I liked was the beautiful setting in the middle of the Nile. The hotel itself feels old and dirty: filthy rooms, murky pools, bad food, and a property that's falling apart. It seems like it may have been nice 40 years ago, but little has been improved since. Booking.com shows an 8.9/10 rating, which just doesn't seem true to me. Anyone giving it more than two stars on Google is lying. The other one-star reviews, including their pictures, are accurate.

I'm staying at Aswan Pyramisa Island island Hotel now, and the stay has been a letdown. Breakfast had a limited selection and didn't taste as good as similar meals I've had at hotels in Cairo. It felt like dining hadn't received much attention. The room was run down and poorly maintained. A heat pad had been left on the mattress cover, which made me question housekeeping, and stains in the toilet bowl suggested it hadn't been cleaned properly. The bathroom also had a lingering sewage smell. My second night was especially hard because children ran, shouted, and played until well past midnight. Later, staff dismantled equipment and loaded supplies outside my room. I had to call out from the balcony to get them to stop, which felt unprofessional. The cleanliness, noise, and disappointing meals all marred my stay. I hope management improves housekeeping, guest comfort, and the overall experience.

The only good parts were the location and the view. Everything else left me frustrated. The food was disappointing, the room was dusty, and the corridors were dirty. The toiletries were limited to soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner. The kettle didn't work, and all three power sockets in the room were far from the bed. A faulty door handle locked us out for about 30 minutes. We asked to move rooms afterward because we didn't feel comfortable going back in, but were told nothing else was available. It was a real hassle. Reception felt unprofessional too. While talking with us, the receptionist kept turning to answer other people before finishing our conversation. Worst hotel stay I've had.

It's an amazing setting, on an island in the Nile, and the ferry comes every few minutes. The service was excellent, and we especially liked the Italian restaurant for its views and tasty steak, chicken, and bolognese. Despite the issues, I'd stay again. The upkeep needs work. Curtains in the room let in sunlight, which could disturb your morning rest. Most gym equipment was broken, and although the pool was large, the water was very cold. There wasn't a proper changing room, the showers were cramped, hot and cold water maintenance was poor, and cleanliness was lacking, with dead cockroaches around.
