Central Cairo Hotel

The friendly staff are what made me stay here twice during my Egypt trip. They organize tours, and you can ask the front desk for advice on getting around Cairo, like you would with family. The hotel is on the 7th and 2nd floors of the building. On the 7th floor, the corridor to the rooms is watched by the front desk around the clock. The 2nd-floor corridor has a key lock to keep outsiders from getting through to the rooms, so I felt very safe. It’s downtown, in a very good location, and the clean room was a decent size and good value.

Clean and really nice, with helpful staff. It felt safe and there’s a market nearby. You can’t hear the market once you shut the balcony door.

The room was small, but fine for what I needed, and the young women who helped me were nice. There was plenty of traffic noise, though I guess that’s standard here. The real problem was finding the hotel. There’s no sign until you reach the reception desk, which is ridiculous. I dragged my luggage around for 20 minutes before finding a review that explained how to get in. It’s up a creepy alley, into a building with elevators that look like the Tower of Terror from Disney World, then up to the 7th floor. Still no signs until you finally stumble across it. PUT UP SIGNS! A LOT OF THEM! EVERYWHERE!

The owner is super honest and always up for a chat. For the price, it’s a fair deal, and they changed our room without any trouble.
