The location makes City View Hotel easy to use as a base. It's downtown, across from the Egyptian Museum, close to Sadat Metro, and the Nile is just over the road. Coptic Cairo and Khan el-Khalili Bazaar are both about 3 km away, so it was easy to head out, come back for a break, then go out again. My west-facing room had a lovely river view. I stayed two nights after a few nights at a five-star place in Nasr City. City View cost nearly a third as much and felt like much better value. The room was modest but comfortable, with what I needed to rest. The hot shower worked perfectly, and breakfast was complimentary, served as a set menu. There are also several nearby cafés with good sandwiches and coffee. Clean, convenient, and well run. I'd happily come back to Cairo and stay here again.

The rooms are decent for the price, especially given how central it is and how close it is to Tahrir Square. Breakfast is simple but nice, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. From outside, the place looks worn down, but inside it's pretty clean and pleasant. Keep your expectations modest and you'll fit right in.

The staff were friendly, and the airport shuttle worked very well in both directions. The location is excellent, near the Egyptian Museum and lots of shops and restaurants. It's a basic hotel, so don't expect a beautiful or luxurious room, but the bed is comfortable, the shower has hot water, and breakfast is pretty OK. Recommended.
