Golden Season Hotel

The people were enthusiastic, and Oummalika prepared a very good breakfast. The room was simple and economical but spacious, with acceptable cleanliness. It’s in the city center on the east side. If it’s your first time there, the entrance and elevator aren’t easy to spot.

Golden Season was comfortable and clean, and I really enjoyed staying there. The staff were very nice, especially Mohamed, who was kind and helpful. The food was good, and I felt welcome. I’d like to come back.

The staff were so polite and professional, and happy to bring extra coffee or sugar without charging us. In Egypt, those little extras usually cost more, so we really appreciated how attentive they were. On our last day, they also surprised us with four pieces of cake and two small bottles of juice before we continued our travels the next morning. Such a lovely send-off. Our room had comfortable beds, a good bathroom, towels, shower gel, shampoo, air conditioning and a small fridge. The balcony was beautiful, and the atmosphere inside felt pleasant. We would have liked bottled water in the room and slippers, but otherwise it had what we needed for our time in Cairo. Garden City was calm and quiet compared with many other parts of the city. When we first arrived, the hotel felt a little intimidating because everything was unfamiliar to us. I had booked early check-in, but our room wasn't ready. The staff quickly cleaned one for us, and we waited only around 40 minutes. They brought us coffee while we relaxed and smoked on the balcony. Compared with other hotels I've stayed in, I'd rate this one 8.5 out of 10. We really enjoyed our stay.

We never got to stay here. The property cancelled our reservation on the day we were due to arrive, without warning. We then had to urgently find an alternative through Booking, and only after we insisted did the hotel offer us another place. It didn't have the same features or standard as the one we'd carefully selected and booked. We take a lot of care choosing hotels, and having a confirmed booking cancelled at the last minute was extremely stressful while we were already travelling. In our view, it's very poor practice. Future guests should know that a confirmed reservation may not be honoured. We wouldn't book here again.
