Grand Lyly Hotel

Hard to get a good night's sleep here. It's on a busy road, and the horns carry right through the windows, which aren't soundproof. Even the bedroom door doesn't block the noise. At night, staff nearby laughed, joked, and played the TV loudly. Smoke also got into the room from staff smoking in the corridor. My room wasn't always cleaned or tidied: one evening I came back to a full bin, dirty tea cups, and an unmade bed. Some staff kept asking for tips without doing anything.

The location is convenient, downtown beside a Jewish temple, with transportation options all around. Staff were friendly, and you can book by phone in advance. The hotel is across from illy restaurant, which serves pizza and coffee. I was surprised that there were no room types to choose from, and thought there was just one guest room type. My room was normally clean, but not especially good. The TV was small, and its dish wasn't working. The front desk said they would change my room because of that. The included breakfast was very modest, and I didn't like it. The toilet bowl was clean and the shower room was clean too, but the rinser water pressure was high, the shower water wasn't warm, and there were no towels or cleaniks. Most of the electrical outlets were too large for my mobile charger, so I could use only one. For a single night, the stay was good, though not great. I could stay again.

Good enough for one night, and I'd be glad to come back. The air conditioner was loud and the TV had very few channels, but those problems seemed fixable. Everything else was great.

It's a clean, basic hotel on the third floor next to adly synagogue. The entrance to the building is rough, but the hotel entrance and rooms are good. There was hot water in the ensuite bathroom, and breakfast was basic.
