We arrived exhausted at 4:00 AM, only to be told our room had “problems” and wasn’t available. There’d been no warning, no clear explanation, and no alternative offered. This was the second hotel in Cairo to cancel on us without a valid reason. Finding the hotel was difficult too, with no visible signs or clear entrance. We had to ask people in the street for directions in an unfamiliar area, and felt very unsafe. We were a group of girls left alone in the middle of the night with no support. There was no room, no help finding another hotel, and no real apology recognizing how serious this was. The staff showed no urgency, responsibility, or concern for our safety. Leaving paying guests stranded at 4AM is irresponsible and dangerous, especially for a late-night arrival. I strongly advise against booking here, particularly for women or anyone arriving at night. Reliability, organization, and basic safety were completely lacking.

The staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. They also gave me useful advice about tourist spots, including what to do and what to avoid.

The room was really dirty. We found pieces of ships under the covers on the beds and lots of hair on the pillow, which made it seem like the covers hadn’t been changed between guests. We stayed four nights, but there was no room service. They didn’t change the towels or even collect the trash. When we tried to shower, the blocked sanitary drain made the bathroom fill like a swimming pool. We asked for a late checkout and the receptionist quoted 500 EP. When we came back to pay, another guy asked for 1000EP. We paid 950EP and were supposed to stay until midnight, although from the start we’d said we’d leave at 08pm. Then another guy started harassing us from 06pm to get out of the room. Breakfast was also very poor, served on dirty tables with dirty plates.

The friendly staff and fantastic location made this a mostly enjoyable stay, and the price was great too. One warning: don’t book a tour through the hotel. What you get may not match what they advertised. Viator or Get Your Guide might cost a bit more, but I think it’s worth it.
