Welcome Arabesque Hostel

I stayed several nights at the Arabesque hotel across September, October, and November 2019. The location is central and ideal, and the rooms were consistently clean. Guests tend to be young, cheerful people who enjoy parties or socializing. Staff are around, respectful, friendly, and open to a nice chat. They gave me a warm welcome. See you next year!

The staff are friendly, but they don’t seem to care much about fixing problems. The AC barely works, and the electricity was out for a whole day. Good luck getting into the elevator that takes your key. If you’re traveling on a budget and aren’t expecting a high standard, it’s fine.

We left the next day after finding the place disgusting and unclean. The bedding had stains and cigarette burns, and there was mold, stains, and spiders in the bathroom. Our room was dim and extremely dirty, with no towels, toiletries, or toilet paper. We got trapped inside when the door jammed, and an employee had to push it open to get us out. When we tried to leave the next day, the door jammed again. The balcony door or window wouldn’t shut, and they tried sealing it with tape. Outside, there were abandoned cars and aggressive people asking for money. I have lots of videos and photos. I contacted Expedia by live chat and said the website’s pictures and description seemed basically fake and amounted to fraud. I demanded cancellation and a refund for my stay at Arabesque Hotel. At checkout I told the guy about all the issues and videotaped it so they couldn’t deny I’d complained.

The building is really old, and the place was so dirty it seemed nobody cleaned it. The room didn’t look like the pictures at all. There were four beds for five people, so I had to share a single bed, not a double. Sometimes I couldn’t even use the elevator because only the staff had the key it needed. The staff weren’t very polite either. I can’t think of anything good to say, and wouldn’t recommend staying here.
