El Nakhil Hotel

For the price, this is a very good hotel. We had a quiet double room overlooking the garden and pool, away from the street hassle, especially compared with the East Bank. El-Nakhil is on a peaceful side street on the West Bank, a seven-minute walk from the public ferry. The reception manager has worked there since 2007 and is kind, welcoming and accommodating. He can prepare a breakfast box even at 6:00 am for an early sightseeing departure. Breakfast and the boxes are basic, but dinner at the hotel restaurant was very nice and reasonably priced. We had Egyptian vegetable casserole and chicken curry with rice and flat bread, black tea and soft drinks for around 500-600 EGP. As other guests have said, internet is very weak and only works in the pool area or on balconies. It didn’t bother us because we bought Egyptian SIM cards, “Etisalat traveller”, 28 GB for 30 days for 340 EGP, so 6 EUR. The rooms are a little dated, but very clean and cozy. Be sure to ask specifically for room service, as they won’t clean otherwise. When requested, the room is impeccably clean, which is unusual in Egypt.

The price is unbeatable, and the wifi worked great for us. We also liked the pool, and laundry is offered at a very good price. The rooftop restaurant was excellent. My husband had the chicken curry and called it the best dish he’d eaten in Egypt. The garden is soothing and very well kept, the employees are lovely, and our spacious room and bathroom were very clean. It’s a five-minute walk to the ferry port, making East Luxor easy to reach.

The courtyard is beautifully looked after, and you can see the care that goes into it. Guests can also use the pool and sun loungers, a great way to unwind after exploring. The ferry port is only a few minutes away on foot. Everything about our stay was wonderful, and the staff were incredibly friendly, especially Youssef and Abdallah. Highly recommend for a Luxor stay.

The rooms and food were excellent, and the hotel itself was excellent too. You can get in touch with Abdo, the hotel manager, to book anything in Luxor. He’s the quickest person to contact among hotels and in Luxor. The painting in the room was really special too.
