Pickalbatros Royal Moderna Resort

We had a lot of fun on our two-week family trip, and the staff we saw regularly, especially the service and bar teams, were wonderful. We tipped the people looking after us best 100 Egyptian pounds fairly often, though not every day, and they kept coming back. The reception team was less helpful, especially at the desk on the right, where we felt passed off to other colleagues. The food was nice and there was always a good selection, but after a week it felt very repetitive. We weren’t told when we arrived that we could book White Elephant once for free during our stay. We enjoyed it, though I wouldn’t pay to go. The internet was awful, around 3mbps, and after a week it logged us out every other day. A travel e-sim is a good idea if you can get one, and download plenty for an iPad, especially for the kids. Smoking seemed to be allowed almost anywhere, and if the people next door smoke, the smell can come through the fans. For a toddler, I’d bring bed rails because the cots are on the small side. The on-site pharmacy was also very expensive for nappies and wipes, £20 for a 24 pack and two packs of wipes. There weren’t many other English people during our stay, and there seemed to be lots of Russian guests. Still, we enjoyed ourselves. I’d just make sure to bring a travel e-sim.

There’s a pier right in front of the hotel that takes you out to a reef for a wonderful snorkeling experience. The waterpark was fun too, and there were plenty of food choices and things to do, including sports and attractions. The team were very nice and helped us with everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation. Special thanks to Ahmed Monaem at the front desk, one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. We’ll definitely come back, you’re sure to have a great time.

The hotel’s private beach was beautiful, and the rooms were spotless. Marble throughout the design gave the place a luxurious look. The café bar was excellent too, with a clean and pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant and housekeeping staff were especially lovely and their service really stood out. I did feel the evening entertainment was a bit limited for a hotel this large. The café and bar were also quite far from the pools, so having food and drinks brought around to different spots at different times would help. I’d also like to see nuts and dried fruit among the food or dessert options. For water activities, we had to take transfers to other beaches. It would be great if the hotel offered more options itself, such as parasailing or similar activities, in addition to the diving already available. We had a very enjoyable, memorable stay. These are just a few things that could make it even better.

The animation team made our stay at Moderna Hotel lively and fun. Reuben was especially energetic and enthusiastic, which brought a lot to the activities and events. The rest of the team were friendly and did a great job keeping guests entertained. The hotel was comfortable and had an enjoyable atmosphere. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d recommend Moderna Hotel to anyone who likes an active, entertaining environment.
