Amfores Boutique Guest House

After one night in our room, we came back the second evening and I really noticed the smell. Before bed I started coughing and my lungs began to burn. Looking around, I found white mold all over the wall behind the sink and black mold in the ceiling corners. I lifted the mattress and saw lots of black mold on the bed frame too. When we complained and asked to change rooms, we were told another room was available, but that it also had mold. We left that night and had to find somewhere else to stay. HCC Montclair hotel was a 10 minute walk away, had a cheaper nightly rate, and our room there was clean and spacious. Amfores Boutique Hotel reimbursed us for 50% of the night we spent there and 100% of the remaining nights we were meant to stay. Save your time, money, and health, and stay somewhere else.

I was a little wary after seeing some low ratings, but those doubts disappeared as soon as I got there. The single room suited one person perfectly and felt plenty big for somewhere right in central Barcelona. After a long day, the strong, warm shower was a real treat. The staff were so welcoming, the facilities were in great shape, and the location made getting around easy. I had nothing to complain about and would happily stay here again on my next Barcelona trip.

The little extras made this Christmas 2025 stay especially memorable. They had good quality umbrellas guests could use, plus juice, snacks and cake for free. The fruit cake was unbelievably good. Our room had exposed brick and wooden beams, with modern touches like a rainfall shower, combined heating and air conditioning, and a really comfortable bed. The staff were phenomenal too. They were happy to chat, including one conversation that went on for about an hour, and offered recommendations for local places. I had an amazing time and would definitely recommend staying here.

The location and the people at the front desk were my favorite parts. There’s good food and friendly people all around, and everyone we met was helpful and lovely. I’m already looking forward to coming back soon. Definitely don’t miss this place :)
