Apartment Reial

The included breakfast wasn’t a huge spread, but it filled the hole, and they stored our bags for us. The rooms are small but very clean, with a surprisingly good ensuite bathroom that looked like a newer addition. We slept quietly even though there’s a busy square nearby, and the mattress was comfortable, though the pillows were very flat. The location is great for a remarkably good price. It seemed better than I expected from a one-star hotel.

The hotel’s location right off La Tabla is gorgeous and puts lots of interesting things close by. It can get very noisy there, with people celebrating outside until about 6 a.m. every night, but somehow it never kept me awake. Staff were super friendly and helped us sort out an airline problem using the front desk phone. I also liked having free breakfast every morning. The rooms get a 1 from me because they’re so sparse: small, very firm beds, a wardrobe, and a shower bathroom. I wasn’t in Barcelona to hang out in the hotel anyway. My hip and shoulder issues didn’t do well on those beds, though, so without that I’d easily stay again ☺️

The hotel isn’t a superstar among hotels, but what you get for the price is unbelievable value. It’s right in the heart of Barcelona, near the old city and not far from the attractions. The area is full of life day and night. Gaudí presented his first works here, the beautiful lamp poles.
