BBarcelona Gaudi Flats

The apartment looked just like the pictures and was in a great location. A wine opener would be useful, and the bathroom door sticks badly. The room freshener was also so strong that it triggered allergy symptoms. It was much better after the place had aired out by the next day.

We were a family of five and had to spread our showers between morning and evening because the hot water lasted only about 12 minutes, despite the 100L tank. The apartment itself was clean, central, and had everything we needed. We didn't need Wi-Fi access, so entry and exit weren't an issue for us in that respect. The office is closed on weekends, so don't count on email replies then, though they do provide a phone number. The entry video skips a step or two. It should be updated to go more slowly and explain the process step by step.

The location was convenient, near Sagrada Familia and the metro. Everything else about this stay was extremely poor. We were on the 5th floor when the elevator stopped working; after several calls and texts, someone came to fix it two days later. The check-in took over an hour because the company hadn't sent the pre-check-in information. Nobody was on site, so I had to call someone in Madrid. The call kept dropping, and every time I rang back I had to sit through the same 5-10 minute setup before we could address the problem. Even after I submitted the check-in information, they wouldn't give me remote access to the building or flat. I called three times to say I couldn't have to call them every time I needed to get in. Slow, inadequate customer service remained a problem all stay. It took at least two days for them to attempt to deal with an issue, even after repeated calls and texts. Reception and customer service weren't coordinated. Different agents used different WhatsApp numbers and didn't seem to communicate, so I had to contact several numbers myself. The apartment was dirty and missing items that the booking listed. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned and was filthy; I had to wipe it down myself. There was rust and mold in the tub, and the floor was sticky and uncleaned. I messaged for several days and still had to call twice before they sent someone to clean. The flat guide says to clean the apartment, but we had no cleaning supplies at all. There were cooking supplies, but no sponge or dish soap. The kitchen also lacked dish towels, spatulas, knives, and cutting boards. When I raised this at check-in, the agent said they'd "put it in the report" and hung up when I asked when they would bring the supplies. Some items arrived after two days, but even after three days of calls and messages they never brought a cutting board. The flat needs major repairs. There was significant water damage in the kitchen, the doorknob fell off when pulled, and the bed was broken and noisy whenever we moved. It had cheap IKEA-like furniture with slats. I reported the bed, but they did nothing to fix it. The walls were dirty and had chipped paint, and some lights were burnt out. When I called about a light, they said they were ordering it, but didn't replace it. I might have managed the flat's shortcomings, but the incompetent, slow, poorly coordinated service was the main frustration. The rooms were clean, the service was great, and self check-in worked well. It's close to the major sights and some amazing restaurants. I'd recommend staying here.
