Hostal Felipe II

The rooms were clean and just right for a short holiday where all I needed was to shower and sleep. The building is old, with a charming old-style elevator, but the entrance has stairs, so it's not suitable for wheelchair users. It's a 10-minute walk to Sagrada Familia and a 20-minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya. During check-in, a Romanian guy helped me a lot and shared useful information about the city and tours. I'd definitely recommend it to friends.

We found cold meals and other supplies at two nearby supermarkets, Bonprix and Carefour express. They had snacks, water, alcoholic drinks, bread, and food, which helped us keep the trip cheaper. The hotel has a shared microwave to heat things up, which I appreciated. I also enjoyed the old-style lift. The room is rather too small, but that's about the only issue. The location is great, very close to a metro station and within walking distance of Sagrada Familia, so it was easy for us to explore Barcelona. Everything else was superb!

For the price, I thought it was a great deal. We had a double room with its own bathroom. It was on the small side, though the balcony and lovely view were a real plus. Even with it getting down to +1 outside overnight, the air conditioner kept the room warm. I didn't notice the nighttime noise other guests mentioned, maybe February made a difference.

The room was convenient even though I booked too late to get one with a toilet. I also liked the old-fashioned elevator. The place is close to the metro and bus station, and Midea was really kind. She let me check in a little early since my time in Barcelona was limited, then shared useful ideas for things to do and see.
