Hostal Muntaner

It was okay apart from the bathroom. There was no exhaust fan, and the door only had a hook to lock it, so it wouldn't close completely. It was also noisy at night.

When I arrived, the receptionist asked for €220, which was much more than the amount in my booking. I questioned the difference and said I'd check with Agoda. He got angry and rude, then canceled my reservation right there. I'd booked Hostal Muntaner through Agoda and received an email saying the payment hadn't gone through. When I called, the receptionist said it was fine and I could pay at the hotel. That already felt unusual, but I continued with the trip. This place feels like a complete scam. Be very careful if you think about staying here.

I gave it one star only because there was no option for zero. The rooms and bathrooms were dirty, and five or six rooms had to share one toilet. There was noise day and night, and the neighborhood was loud too. The hostel crew used our restrooms and fridge, and we barely got fresh towels for almost a week. The night staff were friendly and the location was good, but that was about it.

We stayed in a family room with its own bathroom, balcony, and air-con, which was essential. Shared facilities are an option if you want to spend less. There's free WiFi, and most attractions are within walking distance. For others, there's a Metro station just around the block. Paco Meralgo, a great restaurant, is only a few doors away. It's a budget-friendly hostel in a great central location, literally right above a supermarket.
