Hotel DO Placa Reial GL

The staff were extremely helpful, and the service was excellent. Our room was lovely and had a balcony, right in the Gothic Quarter. Placa Reial is a great place to watch people, with lots of nice restaurants and bars. Head up to the rooftop lounge for a great view and a small pool.

The team were friendly and helpful, and Victor was especially warm, professional, and great at his job. Henry was fantastic too. Our spacious room was spotless and stayed comfortably cool during the Barcelona summer. Even though the area is noisy, it was fairly quiet inside. The location is right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, and I'd come back after a very good stay. There are some upkeep issues in the public areas. The downstairs public restroom has a broken sink that still hasn't been fixed. The after-hours key fob for the building doesn't work, so you have to hope someone is at the front desk to let you in. Food and drink service could be better. The bar shuts at 11:30 PM, which is too early, and you can't order a glass of wine on the rooftop. That seems like a missed opportunity, probably because of management decisions rather than the staff. With a few changes, this place could be excellent.

Henry made such a difference to our stay. After a flight cancellation in Madrid, my friend and I rushed by train to Barcelona, hoping to catch another flight the next morning. We arrived after a long, stressful day, and Henry welcomed us with water. We asked for any available room at the lowest price since we hadn't planned on spending another day in Spain. When he saw my passport, he realized it was my birthday. He listened to what we'd been through and offered us a discount on a better room. It was beautiful and brightened our day. He'd even left a birthday card and champagne. Those thoughtful touches and his hospitality really lifted our spirits. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. The rooms are clean and nice, the hotel is cute and in a great location, and there's a terrace with a lovely view. Later, while we were walking to dinner, Henry recognized us and smiled and said hello. We appreciate all he did to make us smile. Thanks, Henry. I highly recommend the hotel.

The rooftop pool is more of a spool than a pool, and the deck furniture is a bit worn with too little seating. Still, it's a great value if you want to be right in the middle of all the action. Our room was modern, very spacious, and had a great view of the square. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the service was top notch.
