Novotel Barcelona City

We stayed as a family of four and liked the rooms and the location. The ground-floor restaurant was nice, the food was decent, and the rooftop bar was alright. On our last day, though, the woman in charge at the restaurant came across as cold and uninterested. That was a letdown after the other restaurant staff had been so energetic and welcoming on the previous days. Even with that one unpleasant moment, we had a great stay overall.

The room was so cramped that once our luggage was in, there was barely space to move. For the price and the Novotel category, it felt uncomfortable and poorly suited to a family or anyone expecting a proper hotel room. The amenities were sparse, with basic comfort details missing or falling short. The stay felt more transactional than welcoming. The hotel might work if all you need is a bed and you don’t care about space, comfort or extras. For me, a room that feels like a storage unit with pillows isn’t worth the Barcelona rates. It’s overpriced for its size, weak on amenities and below what I expected from an ACCOR named Novotel. Guest comfort and value need serious improvement.

Vincent at the front desk was especially helpful when I checked out. I’d left a gold necklace in the room, and after I called, the staff found it. He also said we didn’t need to extend our stay before our flight and could leave our luggage in storage. Thank you very much, Vincent. The rooftop bar had a lovely skyline view, especially at sunset. The rooms are a little old and could use minor renovations, but the hotel met our expectations. Breakfast was tasty and varied, even if the selection wasn’t very large. We recommend it. They try their best, and that matters.

The room wasn’t clean to an acceptable standard, and I got no apology or compensation. The reception and payment handling were also seriously disappointing. Even though my reservation, QFXDKVZN, for 1-3 June had already been paid, the hotel tried to charge my card again. They explained and handled the situation poorly, and the staff didn’t show proper professionalism or engagement. I expected much better from this hotel group and don’t recommend it.
