Hotel Nuevo Triunfo

Clean and affordable, with loads of great restaurants nearby. Haveli Pakistan is right next door, and the Indian food there was delicious.

The location was handy for the metro, and the hotel itself was okay, but for more than €120 a night I expected better. The bathroom smelled of sewage the whole time. Breakfast and the safe both cost extra, with the safe charged per night. Reception was just one person who greeted people with “buanas” while seeming to vet everyone coming in. I've stayed in much cheaper places and got a warmer welcome. The AC was controlled centrally, so the temperature setting didn't matter. When I called reception because hot air was coming in, they said other guests were cold and I should turn it off. I had to open the window for cooler air, then got woken by shouting and dogs barking in the street. The hotel is next to an Indian restaurant, and people sometimes gathered outside talking loudly. If you're a light sleeper or like a cool room, this probably isn't the place for you. It felt like a hostel, looked like a hotel, and cost like a 5-star place, with staff who could use a reminder about customer service. I wouldn't stay again.

I liked the quiet part of the city where the hotel is, and my room was surprisingly spacious for one person. It all looked fairly new and in good condition, and the staff were very friendly and helped with my questions. I wish there had been tea or coffee in the room, but you can ask the receptionist for some.

The rooms were large, newly renovated, clean, and had comfortable beds. The blackout curtains were a real help with jet lag, and it was easy to get around on foot. As two women travelling together, we felt safe. Staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English. Everything was perfect.
